My dad was at the fitness center in Mound the other day and somebody broke into his locker and stole his keys. His ID was on the key ring, so somebody could easily find out where we live and which car is his. We are already getting our locks replaced on our house, and my dad was planning on getting new locks for his car, but that'll rob him around $1000. Just thought I'd check if you guys knew of a different alternative. He figures since somebody at the club stole his keys, they know his car will be back there eventually, so they can just steal that while he's working out. Any ideas instead of just replacing all the locks on the car?

Park the car there, camp out, and beat the shit out of the guy when he comes to steal it?

Then go to jail for assault and get slapped with a civil suit for the value of the car by the thief.
Your dad should talk with the car insurance company and find out if the car would be covered if stolen even though the thief would have a set of keys. I assume he filed a police report for everything?

Make sure it's got good insurance and if there is any mods on the car make sure you have recent pics of it all.

Why would you keep your ID on your key ring? That makes no sence. Didnt really think that one through.

ok, I'm not sure if he's talked with the insurance company or not yet, but I'm sure he will soon.

I keep my school ID on my keyring. It wasn't a drivers license, it was an access card/ID for his work. With technology these days and all the keyless entry doors, why wouldn't you have your ID with your keys?
no videos in the club?
i don't know if they can have cameras in the dressing room, but that's definitely another thing I'll make sure he checks.
Thanks for the help so far guys.

Why not keep your access cards in your wallet, since that way they'll be on you all day.
Plus, with RF technology these days, you don't need to pull out access cards to go through doors. Just rub your ass on the sensor and call it good.

Yeah, they definitely don't have security cameras in locker rooms.
And being that thieves are usually pretty stupid, the chances of this person figuring out what car your dad drives and being there at the same time are pretty slim. I'd probably change my workout time and day for a few weeks, but as long as he filed a police report, it should be covered by any insurance company if it were stolen.

Well he's on a pretty regular schedule, so I think he's just going to give in and get the locks changed. I hate stupid people.
