So I'm coming home from the U today going southbound on 35W near diamond lake road, and traffic is slow and it comes to a stop. The next thing I know, some kid in a saturn rams my 2g from behind. So I'm pissed, but I get a hold of myself and get out of the car and ask him if he's ok. So he's like, "yea man, I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention, here man" and he has the audacity to try to hand me $60 when my bumper is scraped to the point where it needs painting, and it may even be cracked, I can't tell. So I was like, "Well, I need your information, and that is more than $60 dollars worth damage" So then the kid says, "I don't have a license man, just take all my money." At this point I'm furious and told him I'm calling the cops. Wait there for about 10-15 mins and a trooper shows up and tells me that you can just exchange information. But I explained to him that I attempted to exchange info, but the kid didn't have a license and basically tried to pay me off. So the cop was like, "Oh, well then I will definitely file a report."

So I have a police report, and now I'm waiting to get a claim number from insurance so I can go get an estimate. I don't know if the damage will be over my $500 deductible, especially if the bumper is not cracked. I'm just fucking pissed at people who 1) can't drive and don't pay attention to what the fuck they're doing or what's going on around them and 2) irresponsible people who can't fucking keep a license or get one for that matter. I just look at my car and want to beat the shit out of that kid. End rant.

Man that sucks! Hey at least he didn't completely smash the rear of your car. You're lucky it was just the bumper. GL with everything though, I hope it all works out for you.

If you only knew what I've been through since July 20th this would just be a rock in the road. Sucks about the bumper though, GL on insurance.

Good call calling the police. I found out the hard way that if you don't call the police to the scene the day of the accident, you're essentially SOL in persuing anything legal later. I hate to bring cops into most situations, but you'd be screwed if you didn't.

Pull over to the side, both car/drivers. Make him walk to the ATM, pull some money out.. $500 deduct... then congratulate him on being an inattentive driver. Lesson learned!

J/K, I think you did the right thing... but it sure does suck.

Dang that sucks! Hope it all works out. You have more patience and are much much nicer than I would be in that situation. I definitely wouldn't have asked if he was ok. :P

i would have taken the 60 bucks, then called the cops, and when the kid asks for his money back... "What money?"
