Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?

Mustang, Camaro, G8, GTO, 300C, Charger, Challenger, pretty much the same ones that were the musclecars of yesterday.

Aren't we really mainly talking about 90's vehicles for this comparison/question?

Fair enough. No imports in that list? It was the 90's. Kind of a big shift in sport/fun cars.

I guess they wouldn't have too much value but I am sure they will be sought out. I'm only 31 and I feel the urge to find cars I used to own.

I agree. Something with a larger than 4cy engine. I just don't see the demand right now to justify a comeback in the future. If they were more polular/special, maybe I could see it.


I would argue that DSM's are rather popular. Also, for being "special" think about a Corvette vs Camaro. Most people are restoring Camaros and not Vette's because that's the car they use to have since they probably couldn't afford a vette when they were young. The 4G63 is the new version of the small block chevy (SBC) 350. Crazy power potential, stong, and best of all, a currently common block. But as I stated earlier, for me it depends more on the success of the EVO, since the 8's and 9's kick the shit out of DSM in all areas IMO.

My view may be off by the fact that I come from a Camaro family, but my father is also a goodmark/dynaocorn/sherman body parts dealer, so I have a gerernal idea of what is in demand right now.

As far as demand goes, I look at the for sale threads and the prices. If the car was in demand, you couldn't find one for $1500. The price also justifies that it is not that special. A supra on the other hand....

Imagine how many miles would be on the turbos if the cars lasted that long... I just don't see it.

Right now yes, I'm pretty sure camaros/firebirds etc where rather cheap when they were 15 years old aswell.

agreed, I was saying they are not a "special" car. But they may be more special to people who previously owned and a lot of people have owned one.

Maybe we can come back to this thread in 20 years and find out! :)

that could go the other way to, i see plenty of people buying the cars now that they would die for when they were younger, but could never afford.

same example, a 17 year old kid owned a camaro back in the day, but damn he loved vette's. now that hes older and has a good paycheck he can decide between his highschool (sentimental value) car, or the one he allways coveted.
