I currently was at the rock and broke some pinion gears in my 4 bolt, i have an extra one, and i also have a 3 bolt rear end. I herd that the 3 bolt gears are stronger than the 4 bolt gears. Do you guys know of any other upgrades i could do to my 4 bolt to make it stronger?

^that time is hauling ass. Also i heard there is a way of combining some of the 3-bolt internals with the 4-bolt ones to have a stronger rear end.

I was told/read somewhere that the 3 bolt ring/pinion is a little stronger then the 4 bolt ring/pinion. So what I did was used a 3 bolt rear end housing, with the ring/pinion still in it, and put my 4 bolt diff and axles into it. For you its a cheap option as long as your 4bolt diff is still good.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the ring and pinion shimmed to the case? So putting 4 bolt axles into the 3 bolt case is relatively easy and doesn't require resetting the backlash.

Shit, I didn't know the 3 bolt was any good.. I just recycled mine for scrap metal!

In any case, preload your drivetrain at the line, it will help save your parts.

^how do you do that?

The simplest way is to pull the ebrake at the line and have the clutch let out a tiny bit(just enough for the car to be "pushing" against the brake). This effectively eliminates the slack or space between the gear teeth and reduces the amount of shock all the parts go through when you slip/drop your clutch for your launch. This is however a little abusive to your clutch.. Then you just have to get good at releasing your ebrake and launching at the green light and getting your hand to the shift knob in all one motion and all while not wasting any time..
