I've always considered repainting this car a different color, maybe I should paint the engine bay black....?

Or should I stick with the current stock color?

UPDATE:
Welle's could not/would not put my paint in an aerosol can because they said it had too much pearl in it, it would clog the nozzle and end up with a shitty color.

I'm bummed.

No more engine bay painting plans for now.

But, I'm doing what I can to make it perdy.

Anyone know of a close over the counter color I could get? I picked up a small can and it was too red, but had he right amount of flake... just wish it was a little darker.

Ok I have three options:

a)Leave the engine bay the way it is

b)Paint it gloss black

c)Paint it semi-gloss black (my original plan).

My mentality behind this is: My current engine bay has lots of scratches, and I want to fill the unused holes. I can't get the stock color, so black is really the only option. I thought gloss black would be too much, but after I tested some tonight I take it back. I think black would help hide some of the other crap, like the wire loom and such.

I just want a new-looking engine bay that you can eat food off of. Right now its clean, it just isn't nice enough.

Stick with your plan. I think semi-gloss will look good and I know you will be happy with it.

I'd say go with the semi-gloss black. It sounds like it is your first choice, and what you really want. It'll look good, too.

I've been masking, removing shit, sanding, doing a bunch of prep work and it sucks. I will have pics when its done.

gloss bitch! Semi gloss doesn't look as good. It looks like glorified primer.

I say semi gloss. If you drive the car regularly at all, it'll end up looking semi gloss in a month or two anyways, unless you clean it every week or so.

Haha, I do clean my shit about that often... Anyways.

Semigloss and clear was layed down this morning. Tonight I felt it up like I feel your mom, and some areas don't feel so glassy smooth as others.

Can I wet sand this shit?
I put on a ton of clear, btw. I think the "rougher" areas is just overspray.

What is the best way to wetsand this? 2000? Is that too high? Is 1000 too low?

Will I have to buff the clear after wetsanding it?
