Very crazy... Just to think everyone would have been much better off if he would have just rear-ended the SUV! :(

The driver is a pretty nice guy. I've talked to him many times on AIM. I really hope he doesnt get those charges pressed against him. I'm sure he feels horrible already.

Stupid people: watch out for them.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge that the accident was caused strictly by people acting stupid. Here's the story that was posted up on the DSMLink forums. Very sad, and I will be donating money to the funeral, and would encourage others to do the same. From what I gather, all those involved in the incident were decent people, and this could have happened to anyone of us.

Ok. To fill everyone in here. I am still in Norwalk. David is Healthy and safe- Billy, a close friend and family member of ours is no longer with us. We thank everyone who participated in the moment of silence at the track today. I'm sure Billy would be very greatful. Billy doesnt have much, and the few family members he has also do not have much. His friends (us) are going to do everything we can do for the funeral. If you would like to donate anything to help with the funeral costs it is greatly appreciated. He will have to be taken care of here in Norwalk and then transported to Maryland for the remaining procedures and funeral.

-This is the story-

Me, Haley, Steve, and Ron were riding in my evo. David, Chrissy (his gf), and Billy were riding in his talon. Our two cars left Best Western in search for food. Every year we head to Sandusky for a decent dinner. This time our trip to Sandusky ended tragically. David was following me while traveling down route 250. I was in the right lane and a Cavelier was traveling to my back left corner. David was behind the cavelier and attempted to switch lanes to get directly behind me. At the same moment the car ahead of me was stopped in the road suddenly. I braked suddenly to avoid collision. At this point David was changing lanes behind me, saw my brake lights, and then swirved to the right of my car to avoid collision with me. A disabled car happened to be in the shoulder when David swirved into the shoulder. He locked up his brakes and swirved into the dirt/grass to the right of the shoulder to avoid the disabled car. The car lost control and started sliding sideways. David tried to control the car without much luck. The car slid sideways infront of me and surrounding traffic. His talon continued to slide into oncomming traffic, with a few cars avoiding him. A black toyota four-runner was unable to avoid collision- David's car was "t-boned" on the passenger side. The toyota rolled several times before coming to a stop.

***David was not driving recklessly like some reports say. Nobody was street racing or doing anything abnormal. It could of been any of us. ***

David had a few cuts and scrapes but Chrissy and Billy were injured fairly bad. Two helo's flew them to St Vincents Mercy Hospital for treatment. Both Chrissy and Billy were in critical condition. One second the doctors told us Billy was doing great. He seemed ok at the accident but had some leg injuries. The next second the doctors informed us that we lost Billy due to internal bleeding. Steve and Billy are cousins. But Steve is his father figure. He lives with him, feeds him, clothes him, etc. The loss of Billy is like losing a son to steve. And a very good friend of ours.

Chrissy (Davids gf) is still in critical condition but her healing process has already started. Her family is with her and we are visiting her periodically. Chrissy is a very strong girl and will pull through great. So far she is doing really well and I hope everyone will pray for her recovery.

As for all of us. Friends and Family of Billy- its hard. Its honestly the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. I can speak for my friends and say the same. Please keep us in your prayers. Pray that Chrissy will continue a solid, healthy recovery.

Thank you all in advance for everything. The DSM community is like no other, and an event like this tears me apart. It seems like a bad dream, but I cant seem to wake up...

There's also reports of these two cars lane jumpin and cutting people off as they left town, and personally passing people to get right behind your friend is considered aggressive driving. It IS too bad what happened and I can see anyone of us doing something similar, just the situation was really really bad time to do such a thing.

Let this serve as a reminder why we like to have fun on our cruises, but not *too* much fun, if you know what I mean. Seems like there was a line that was crossed and the price has now been paid. It's really too bad and very very sad.

Reading all that makes me sick to think if something like that would happen at one of our events...
