ecu???

so this is the problem i've been tryin to get at for the past month!

my car tries to kill itself everyonce in a while?

when the car does kill? its hard to start for a while!

my ecu clicks (when car tries to kill) then check engine light comes on then goes off after a few seconds?

mmcd doesnt read the check engine light when it comes on after the ecu clicks?

my ole man fixed my old ecu and it did the same thing with that ecu too?

the ecu that we fixed had good caps?

my ecu now doesnt seem like its leaking?

so is this an ecu prob. or should i be looking at something else?

before this i had some trouble with my coolant temp sensor cables but i fixed that and now this? and also i kept getting a check engine with the o2 sensor but it looked fine and code is gone?

and also my alternator seems to be reading a lil low? could that have anything to do with it?

Are you sure it isnt your fuel relay that is located in that same general area? And Im sure your Alt isnt really hurting anything. My alt is only running at like 13.5 volts and my car runs fine.

Sounds similar to my MAF-T problem...
Thought it was my ECU but the MAF-T box was giving me the problems

basically stock? hard upper and lower ic pipes! mbc. no electronics... it sounds like its from my ecu but i will look into that relay?

I would check the MPI relay that RlFebo mentioned. That is usually what makes the clicking noise and I've had 2 fail on me in the past.

I got that relay. Also I figured out what's wrong with that ecu. It doesn't turn on the fuel pump!! So I don't know how you would repair that but it sounds like your dad could possibly fix it. You can have it for $10 Also the relay for another $10. PM me if you want them.

i havent had a chance to look yet? but i will definitely let you know on that ecu and relay!

The coolant sensor is actually very important on these cars, and most modern EFU cars. You might as well replace that for the hell of it, and make sure the connector has no broken wires as they get very brittle over time. I would also just try a KNOWN working ECU, just for the heck of it.

clickin all the way to 4g63's house then on the way back stopped at menards to buy a boostcontroller and on the way home no problems yet?

my confidence in driving the car is getting better! i will let you guys know if anything comes up or if it was the relay!

i think i can safely say that it was due to that mpi relay!
