I found this on another forum. Funny stuff!

This is VERY fun. I've been messing with all the printers hooked to the network with this lately. My boss's printer constantly says PC LOAD LETTER (office space reference).

I even went through the trouble to change my fellow IT guy's printer in corporate headquarters to RADIATION LEAK

Here's how to do it...

Download pstatus.exe from here: http://www.chrisinvt.com/files/pstatus.exe (http://www.club3g.com/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.chrisinvt.com%2Ffiles%2 Fpstatus.exe)
Place pstatus on your desktop
Go to Start > Run and type in cmd
Type in cd desktop and hit enter
type in pstatus IP OF PRINTER "YOUR MESSAGE" and hit enter***
Laugh at confused coworkers when they go to the printer and see the new status message!
This will work on most printers. I've tested it with HP, Lexmark & IBM and it's worked great! I've also tested with some Konika printer/copiers and they didn't work. This will clear on a [printer] reboot. What I did to combat my boss rebooting the printer (thinking there's something wrong with it) is setup a scheduled task on my laptop to run every minute changing the status message back to PC LOAD LETTER" :haha:

***EXAMPLE 1: pstatus 192.168.23 "STOP KILLING TREES!!"
***EXAMPLE 2: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop>pstatus 192.168.1.23 "CAUTION: RADIATION LEAK DETECTED!"

Here is what one guy did...

Good call. That's why I don't want to even try it.

someone try it on a bogus network so if it is indeed a virus, then you'll be safe

My guess is that this is an executable of something very similar to this:

Unfortunately, I don't have rights to install a perl script compiler on my work PC and was never able to try this.

However, a Google search for pstatus.exe brings up several malware links...
