Last Monday I started my new job. I work in Subscription Services at Thomson Reuters (AKA Thomson West or West Publishing). My job title is a machine operator trainee. I work the 2nd shift so I work 2:30-10:30. Last week I was just helping out getting to know the different machines. To last week all I did was put a book in a box. For real that’s all I did, took a book off a pallet and put it in a box. It was super boring! Now this week I start training on the machine I will be running. The machine I will be working on takes a piece of paper, folds it and puts it in an envelope. Hopefully this will be less boring then putting a book in a box. Once I can run the machine by myself I will get a pay increase. There is a guy there that just started a month ago and he is already trained. Hopefully I will move that fast and get a hefty pay increase! Thats all, I just thought I would share.

Congrats on the new job!
I worked at West Publishing a long time ago, before Thompson bought them. I was a contractor doing programming work. They seem like a really good company. But I remember it took them a couple of weeks just to get me a computer to use. They were a little disorganzied.
Keep with it and I'm sure it will get better.

My mom has worked for West publishing for 35 years. I'm not sure what she started doing, but after Thompson bought them and downsized, she got moved into the mail room. My brother has also been working there for about 7 years. He's a machine operator in the bindry.

This job is great. Got to work today and started the machine up and it didnt work. First 2.5 hours the thing was broke. Then we worked for 1hr and went to lunch. It was great. Also got gas today and my MPG went from 21ish to 26! One downfall of this job is its in eagan and it 63 miles round trip.
