MIne tints with the sun, or at least with daylight viewed from a dark garage. It also darkens with a normal incandescent bulb or halogen. I don't know, maybe someone with even more free time on their hands can compare spectrum output on all those sources.

You would think daylight would do it, because it's full spectrum. Right?

It might depend more on the settings the mask has and how good the sensors are at picking stuff up. I doubt its off Hz because MIG welding uses DC power which would not alternate to cause a Hz signal from the light during welding. I use my mask for Plasma cutting and I would think it would work with blow torch cutting/welding also.
