Ive been looking online about info on the map sensor... do you need to flash the ecu?? are there any benefits?

i saw pictures of the sensor on google and it doesnt look like it connects to the intercooler piping like the gm maf would so i can already see one benefit....

more info would be appreciated!!

thanks
alex

Do you realize that these are 2 completely different things?

The MAP sensor operates in an entirely different way from a MAF. You runa vacuum hose to it. It references the pressure and sends that info to your ecu. It's used in conjunction with an air temp sensor. Those two readings are compared to a predetermined table to determine how much air is entering the engine. it does not actually measure the air itself.

You need a different setup to run a map sensor. DSM ecu's are equipped to run a MAF, not a MAP setup.

I run DSMAP which is a speed density setup. Other (read high dollar) setups do the same thing. Here is a not so clear picture of mine.

Do they have 5 bar support for DSMAP? 3 Bar isn't enough for my daily tune.

My understanding is it's not written into the code as is, but if you do some hex editing it's not too difficult. IE: The possibility is there and a few have probably done it, but it's not a straight out of the box option.

3 bar only goes to 29psi. Back when my car wasn't down on boost, it ran 29-30 daily. Now it only makes 27 for some reason... The was that DSMAP works is so hokey that I have just stuck with the stock 2G MAS.
