This isn't an accident I was in, but I was right behind my friend when he did it. It happened 2 years ago on the day of our junior prom. Three of my friends and I, along with our dates, were all driving to dinner. It had been snowing for sbout an hour, so the road was covered with a layer of slushy snow, so it was fairly slippery. As we crested a hill, my friend's explorer fishtailed, so he started to recover, but he overcorrected and he slid into the ditch completely perpendicular to the road, the explorer caught, and rolled completely once. They were both wearing their seatbelts and they walked away with nothing more than a few cuts and a ruined prom dress. Long story short, we all ended up eating dinner at a McDonalds after the two of them were checked out at the emergency room. That was probably the single scariest thing I've ever seen. Everybody is right about the events unfolding in slow motion.
Nasty stuff.

My scariest moment.............
I was on the way back from RF's, and the freeway was wide open, so my brother in his 95 SOHC Neon goes wizzin past me, I of course being dumb and see the wide open freeway, freshly paved didnt take to kindly...
I jam it into 4th and redline her, I fly past my bro and keep goin, 5th... doin 110,115,120,125,130,130+....... then were coming up on a weigh station and i see 3-4 WI Patrols sitting there.... all in about a seconed I see my self screwed big time, car impounded, jail, no liscence...... I slam on the brakes and go flying buy all of them at over 100mph with the brake lights lit. My buddy and i are like O M F G!!!!
Im in the right lane down to 65mph just cruzing with my eyes on my rearview mirrior. My bro finally catches up and i roll down my window and yell at him to get in the right lane that we just flew past State Patrol...hes like "huh" didnt even see him.. so he gets right infront of me... instead of going ahead a few cars and getting in the right lane...
A few miles down the road I see a Patrol come up behind us in the left lane... I told my buddy that we are soo screwed and my heart started beating like crazy. The Patrol procedes to pull both me and my bro over..
He comes up to me and asks if there was any reason for speading... I told him "I didnt realize I was speeding" He laughs and says dont give me that shit we got you on our radar going over 100mph... (to wich I knew was BS because my Passport 8500 didnt even chirp) I said I dont think I was goin over 100mph, last time I checked I was doing 65. He goes "you dont think you were speeding!? How fast do you think you were going" I reply 65mph.. He then leaves my car and talks to my bro for like 10 mins, he comes back and my says "You brother just admitted to doing 100 mph, he said you guys just came back from the race track and I see his car is all gutted" I say if he was doing 100mph thats his fault, I was not. He asked where I was headed. I say my friend has top be to work at Woodbury Pizza Hut in MN by 5, he looks at his watch and says and by doing over 100mph you think you can make it there in 30 mins?? I said no, thats why I was goin 65. He takes my info back to the patrol car, and we are sitting there for about 45 mins... in that time, the "DSM GROUP" pass us....(remeber that!!?? LOL) He comes back and notices my exhaust, askes me to start the car and rev it, he says that its too loud and illegal, then says my clear 3rd brake light is illegal, then he says I have expired tabs, I show him the paper work because I was waiting for my custom plates, and they had tabs on it. Says im still driving on expired tabs and its illegal. He then asks me for the last time "how fast were you going?" I say "honostly sir, I dont know, like i said the last time i check i was goin 65, but I dont know how fast I was going when we drove past you" he says thats is called inatentive driving, to not be aware of your speed, and thats a fine.... he leaves and goes to my bros car, i see him start and rev his car, after about 10 mins my bro gets a piece of paper and leaves. The patrol comes back to me, and he says, ok, now this is the last time... what was your speed. I say the same thing, honoslty officer, i dont know.. So he adds up all these fines (well over 700$) and says being im from antother state, he can require that I make paypment in full before he lets me leave, or they tow my vehicle, but that hes giving me a WARNING..................
My heart just stopped!!! And i just stayed cool, and said yes sir and agreed with everything he said.. including how aftermarket parts hurt performance, and how a different muffler lowers compression, and how my car wasnt designed to go fast, its a neon... and how driving fast on the road is a very bad idea, it was "Yes sir" to everything... I took my warning ticket with all the infractions, and he said "Now I let your brother go 10 mins before you, i dont want you 2 together, driving at those speeds on a freeway could turn tragic very easy, I could be here scraping you up off the ground instead of having this talk, now I dont want to catch you driving at those speeds in my state again, or you will go to jail"
Yes sir, thank you sir, have a good day sir.....
And that was the scariest moment in a vehicle....
Not once did i ack like an ass, not once did i roll my eyes or raise my voice, i didnt cuss, had my hands on the wheel, and made him feel in control. I knew they didnt get my on radar, my 8500 didnt go off. Not once did I admit to driving above the speed limit... All this helped me get lucky.. And from that day forth, I dont really speed, dont race on the streets, and am always watching for cops. Im paranoid now, that one incodent pretty much ruined me. LOL, but I think it was for the better.

2 different times. They were both in my WRX. One time was when I was being very stupid, this is most likely the reason I don't street race. I was on 35N going to Duluth with my g/f, and two cousins in the car with me. I wanted to see what then was a stock WRX, could do. So I took it up to 130 MPH (it makes a nice howling noise at that speed) and see a semi in the right lane about 700 feet from us (I'm in the left lane.) So I start slowing down, but not fast enough. Well, about 200 feet in front of us the semi swervs into my lane. My heart just sinks. There is a slow car in the right lane, and I'm still doing like 120. So I get on the brakes pretty hard, and the semi swerves back into his lane. Doesn't sound like much, but with my g/f and 2 family members, it was enough to scare the piss out of me.
#2. Going to work at 8:30 on 35W. Rush hour. Doing 50 in the left lane with about 6-7 car lengths inbetween me and the suburban in fron t of me (I like my space so people can merge.) Well, it had just snowed the night before, and there was still snow piled up along side the concrete bariers, but none on the road really (must have plowed and melted.) Then I see this snowplow coming down the left lane going southbound. About a 150 feet in front of me, maybe more or less, I don't know, the suburban slams on his brakes, and at the same time, the snowplow must have hit a big pile of snow, throwing it up and over the barrier, into my lane, in between the suburban and I. So I slam on the brakes, slow down about 10 mph, and then hit the snow. So I slide into the back of the suburban, who is completely stopped I think, doing 45 mph. Scariest thing ever. Totalled my 2003 WRX with lots of options, and I was only 18. I walked a way with a little bump on my knee. If I was in my del sol, I may have been killed. It takes a lot of damage to total out a 2003 car... I wrote subaru a thank you letter for having such good saftey designs built into there car. I will always love subaru for building such safe cars. Oh ya, and the suburban drove off after I hit him. Cop thinks they didn't have insurance or something crazy like that.

doing over 120 in my old car (supprising) racing my friend in a mercedes from postville iowa to fort atkinson iowa. and taking an onramp in this small-ass town at 80mph when the limit was probably 30.. we passed on corners even when there was oncomming traffic.. never will be doing that ever again..

We were coming back from the twin cities on 94. It had been snowing pretty heavily, but it wasn't a really big deal, I had only seen one accident the entire day. We were in our new Durango at the time (i think this must have been 2002), anyway so we were going about 70 mph and the wind picked up and blew the backend at the same time we hydroplanned; we were going to roll but we hit, perhaps luckly, a bridge underpass. The entire rear end (we hit going backwards) was totally smashed in and some fairly substantial damage to the rail thing on the brdige. Hella scary.
Then, this winter, both were my fault. I was late for getting to school, so I was going pretty fast entering the parking lot. There are two little curves that I usually take pretty fast; anyway it didn't appear to be wet at all, so I punched it come out of the turn... well to make it short I started drifting hardcore around the curves and ended up doing a 180 a few inches away from a light pole. Fucking stupid... this was like two days after I bought it (the GST Spyder).
In my old car (the talon), I was by my GF house and there are some nice curvy roads, I pulled the ebrake at like 2:30 in the morning and for some reason maybe i didnt let off soon enough, it slid like 20x faster then it usually does and I ende dup hitting a stop sign and my back bumper almsot falling off (fiberglass). it was kinda funny, and I learned my lesson.

i was driving down a gravel road in the middle of the winter and it is about 45 out. I come around a corner going about 35-40 not knowing how sharp it was tryed to slow down and just kept going straight. Straight over a hill fliping my car sideways and sliding about 50 feet on my side till i hit a bunch of little trees. After stoping i climb out of the passenger side standing straight up on its side. I get on the phone call up my best friend and he starts laughing. he comes with his big ass truck with tractor tires on it that we use for mudding we push the car over and surprised there arnt alot of scratchs on the paint because it slid on the snow, no damage from the trees because they were little ass twigs. So we hook it up and pull the thing out. Its a scary thing when u turn one way and cant turn because of the ice and u just keep going straight.

The scarest time for me.
Was Freshman year of College I was visiting my brother at RIT, his fraternity was having a party and like usual I was completle trashed. So My R.A. who was with me along with one of her friends and I descide to go get some food. (the drive I thought hadn't been drinking)
Well when we hit the parking lot he noticed he had a ticket for parking in the wrong spot or something. Well as we are leaving the parking lot the campus security guy is still writing up tickets in the parking lot so this guy drives right next to him slowly and rolls down the window and screams some profity, etc at this guy And then speeds up not looking where he's going almost hits 2 other cars. Well the security guy gets in his car and give chase to us.
So we get pulled over and right as the security guy is about to come up to our rear bumper the driver of the car I'm in is like "F" this guy and just hits the gas and takes off, Which turns out to be this like 20 minutes chase the security guy even fallowed us off campus onto the city streets etc.
Being Drunk didn't help anything all the braking, speeding up, turning, etc Made me sick to my stomach. Let alone the dizziness I got from the whole ordeal.
Several times this guy almost lost control. But in the end we lost the security guy and he never recieved a ticket or anything I guess.
I personally have issues with a security guard giving chase to a car on Campus that has more then 22,000 students and then fallowing us onto city streets. Had he not given chase the driver of the car I was in for sure wouldn't have been speeding and I could have gotten the "F" out the car a hell of a lot earlier. But because of this he prolonged/put my life in danger.
Another reason I hate Rent a cops more then police officers. Technically I'd think the rent a cop could have gotten a ticket for speeding, recless driving, etc as well as us since he really has no powers.
