I'm not sure if this belongs in this thread, so please move it accordingly if necessary.
I'm finishing up my long 2.4 project and trying to finish the timing belt job. I thought the two little holes in the tensioner pulley were supposed to be 10 and 12 o'clock respectively...however, mine is at 11 and 1. Then at which point, the little pin is suppose to be easily removable, but its not either. Help guys?

Well for one you have your cam gears switched. And If I remember correctly you are saposed to line it up at 12 o'clock when putting it on but when you tighten it it doesnt matter where they sit, as long as you tighten it to spec.

The cam gears are actually on right.

Are you referring to the cam gears being setup at 12 o'clock? Naturally, without the belt, they are at 11 and 1 respectively. Would that be an indication of improper cam installation? It is a rebuild, but could have been rebuilt incorrectly.
If the later and referencing the tensioner pulley, then ok, that makes sense as long as it is within spec.
I'm learning, this is my first build.

See how yours dont have the marks on the gears in the right place(you dont have an inside mark on the exhaust cam)
This is my engine, see how the marks line up...

Also I was refering to the tensioner pulley
And you can take off the ring that is on the cam gear. Its not used and is added weight.

From my memory, Blageo is right, they are backwards. I use Fidanza cam gears and marked them according to the 2.4 stockers. Works great.
11 and 1 are what the tensioner holes usually are on 2.0's, I see more like 10 and 12 on my 2.4, but I still do it to the 3/16ths gap per the manual.

No doubt! I questioned the cam gears myself, every where I looked... the cams are the correct one and in the correct place. It just didn't sit right in my eyes... if it worked on your car, I'll trust it and switch them when I get home.
Also, I've been research a lot about the timing tensioner pulley... I'm going to try and use the 2g tensioner arm... current I have the 1g arm. I'll post back.

If I'm not mistaken, the plate behind the intake gear is used for a timing trigger on the 2.4 Galant, but I don't have one around for reference.
Just went and looked at mine, there's only one way the marks line up together. Extremepiss.com has them wrong.

that plate is the trigger, in the 2.4. I just put mine together and the tensoiner is in a different spot but as long as it is tight and the spring adjuster isn't maxed either way you should be fine.

You only need that plate if you are running the 95-96 cam pickup.
