I need some opinions.
My jack took a shit on me and instead of trying to fix it I just want to buy a new one. I want a low prfile jack so I can jack up some slammed honduhs :).
I was going to get a 2 ton craftsman but I have heard bad things(last less then a 1.5 years). Also was looking at an OTC one but thats a bit expensive. Im looking to spend under $200 for sure. Let me know what experience you guys have.

I have a 2.5 ton low profile Craftsman jack and I'm happy with it. My first Craftsman jack held a car off the ground over a winter outside so I don't have any complaints.

My Craftsman 1.5 ton (3000lb) died in a year. Replaced the hydrolic fluid with brake fluid and it has worked awesome for the last 6 years I've owned it.
If I was to ever buy another jack, I would replace all the fluid right away. But thats just me. Just because I've seen how well brake fluid works compared to jack oil.

Any idea why? This isn't the first time I've heard this.

Napa offers a nice low profile 2.5 or 2 ton jack for about 200 I think. I could probably even get it a tad cheaper for you if I went in with you.
I believe it is a lifetime warranty too.

Think about how many times a car uses the brakes in its life time. Normally you dont change the fluid more than a couple times in a cars life, if ever.
I dont know if that is correct, but just my thought on it. Makes somewhat sense to me I guess.
I got a nice aluminum one at Northern Tool for under $200. I think this is the one I have, I can't see if it is the twin pump one or not, I have the twin.

Same one I got also and it's treated me well, isn't too heavy, and wasn't all that spendy.
It's 2 years old, and I think I need to change the fluid now. Guess I'll try the brake fluid swap you guys are talking about.

After several crappy 2-tons I bought a craftsman 3 ton. It's held up for a year or two now and seems to be doing great. The nice thing is it was pretty cheap (~$50 on sale, maybe $70 normally).
