Going to put this out there and see who had experience with them.

Thinking of "tweeking" a 3g mirage/colt for the hell of it.

Has anyone here done the (engine and/or AWD) swap and what has been the experience with them. Do they perform well once swap is done with? How is the handling? I am thinking it would make a good sleeper once done, plus decent gas milage due to light weight (gas is getting expensive).

I am counting up my spare parts that I have laying around and I think I have enough to make the swap pretty cheap. But before I invest time and money (mostly time I think) I wanted to hear peoples opinion.

Best place to find a cheap colt/mirage hatch?

I have a 92 Eagle Summit (Colt/mirage 3door) I'd let go If you need a shell.

It comes with udjustable camber strut top plates and 2 sets of wheels/tires

If you want an easy swap go for the 1989 Colt GT w/1.6 turbo motor. This is pretty much a direct swap with a few minor 1g parts that you will need from a 90 fwd. If you get later year, you will need to rewire and probably need to switch out the clutch system out (depending on the year). A Colt GT shell could be had in MI or OH for cheap for 1k or less. This will depends on the owner and what has been done to it.
As to making it AWD, LIL-EVO out in WI-Miltown has a instruction video on how-to. I'm sure he also has a video on how- rewired a non-turbo colt to turbo colt.

So I am getting close

I have seen LIL-evo vid on it, it goes over how to install everything

I don't think wiring would be that hard (time intensive YES but shouldn't be that bad)
