Looking to buy a compressor with or without air tools. I'm on a budget so I'm pretty much open to anything at this point as long as it's functional and it won't explode in my face the first time I turn it on.

Anything that your parents wouldn't kill you for isn't worth your time or money. Unless there is some amazing small compressor technology I don't know about.. maybe some others know something.

I've actually been impressed with some of the smaller compressors for occasional air tool use. I've got a portable 4.25 gallon that, before i broke it, did a great job running most things. The key is finding one that has decent power and CFM. Some of the small ones put out reasonable CFM. Don't expect to run paint guns, but air tools should be fine.

*edit* and if I get my little one running any time soon it'll be up for sale. It's something stupid gone wrong, but I don't have time to pull it apart just now.

I have a 6 hp 70 gallon 2 stage compressor I'd let go for $600
(it's 220 volt though)

It flows hella cfm :)

Do you have a model numba on that bad boy or a brand?

Haha.. yea that's probably overkill for me, I'm just looking for something reasonably small I can run a couple air tools on for sanding things and whatnot, thanks though.

I just want something reasonably small mainly for sanding and refinishing things, and not just car things either.
