First off, i've got a turbo here, part number 49178-01420. Which comes up as a big 16g. Now, first question, the wheel on the turbo is destroyed, and needs to be replaced, does the 18g wheel(compressor side) fit in the housing just fine? I've seen people say they've done it, but no comment on if the housing was machined. Can find both wheels for the same price, so i figure if it will work, i might go for it.
Second question, the turbos are td05h's as 99% of you know. So couldn't i just switch the exhaust and compressor housing from the blown one onto the new center with the rebuild kit i have for the 16g? I know the wheels will have to be switched over, and i'm starting to think a 18g/14b combo would be too out of balance for the car but seeing as i'll be getting a 17c turbo over the summer for just the cost of shipping, it's starting to make me think.
And before anyone says to :google: it, i have. Just checking up with some people i know that know there stuff before i start throwing a few hundred at something that MAY work.
