Here's the story Started the car Sunday morning (like -20) started easily. Sunday night car wouldn't start low gas so I put alittle Anti-freeze (for gas) in the tank, Jump the battery and put some starter fulid in the air way, and it starts. Get home car temp start to rise fast and I hear a pinging noise (I think it was from putting too much starter fuild) so I shut it off before it overheats. Check the oil (notice it was low) check upper and lower rad. hose me make sure that T.stat wasn't stuck (1 month old). 2 mins. later I start the car again. Starts right up no problem temp immd. drops to normal op. temp engine idles fine rev it up a couple of times everything sounds good. Let it run for 3 mins. to see if temp would rise again, it didn't so I shut it off. Monday morning I try to start all I get is a click so I figure that the battery was dead so I proceed to jump the battery again, still get a click. Check the battery I'm getting alittle under 13 volts.

History on the car. I've had a bad battery for a while now, Starters new, fresh tune up, T stat and air filter. T-belt, waterpump and belts are all new. CEL comes on and goes off once every two weeks I have a vac leak somewhere nothing major.

Symtoms. Car wont even crank just clicks. I had the starter tested it's fine a little under 13 volts on the battery. What else could it be? I have owned many DSM and never had a problem until this car.

Battery is too weak, starter is bad, starter has a bad ground or main power, or the starter is just getting stuck. Check the big ground wire that goes down to one of the starter bolts. Maybe try mildly hitting the starter with a hammer and see if it breaks loose.

I will try a better/New battery. Starter was tested good checked that bolt and it's fine. I have checked all fuses in the engine bay and they are good. Removed all white battery acid.

13 volts doesn't mean that the battery is good. if your amperage is low, it will not start the car. you can test the voltage while cranking. if the voltage drops alot, your battery is no good or your starter is no good. if your battery is more than 5 years old, replace it.
Do not put too much starting fluid. It can blow a hole in your pistons or blow your head gasket.

if the battery has gone completely dead a few times it will do that to you. or if its just bad. MOST places will replace them if u bring it in. with a warrenty of couse :)

i went through 3 batteries in 6 months

Problem sloved dead battery. I guess I learned that you need to test for more than just volts.
