Wow, the gains from the long tubes is a lot.

The gain differences between the long tube and short tube might not actually be that much, if nothing else is restricting them. Has anyone tested the shorties? We have done swaps from shorties to long tubes on NA 300whp Mustangs and there haven't been power gains on the dyno. Maybe there would be real gains on a more crazy, bigger displacement, higher power NA build.

Well the shorties are a different make, they are from RRE.

Also they are talking cold air, and i'm in short ram right now, which I also recently found out is INSANELY hot compared to cold air, so that's a couple ponies for sure. basically here is the exact different between my car and theirs.

Their 276whp dyno'd GT: Cold air intake, RIPP long tube headers, Custom 2.25 inch exhaust (probably no cats, but with a high flow reso and muffler, but i'm not sure)

My setup: Short ram intake, Short tube headers, Stock exhaust from headers to cat (stock cat still in place), cat-back magnaflow exhaust (basically very minimal gains, a couple if anything at all, all I replaced was stock resonator and muffler)

I dyno'd last fall with you guys at DB at 235-236 on all 3 pulls.

I'm so stressin...

Anyone one else getting gains like they are posting?

Like nobody has the RIPP long tubes cause they are so expensive. 1000 bucks. And nobody has really been posting dynos with them so nobody has any reason to be the first to dive in.

I've seen 1 guy claim he has them and never seen a dyno sheet and he posts like once a month.

I'm also starting to wonder if I need to have something checked to see if i'm losing power somewhere other than just not getting what I expected out of what i've done so far.

I mean to go from 217whp to 288whp with IHE, seems like too much on an NA car, unless the stock stuff is horrible. Those are better than NSX numbers. What is the factory HP rating at the motor?

263chp.

I think that is also tuned, for the 288 number. Also might be a manual vs the 217 being an auto.

So 217 being totally stock auto trans.

288 Intake, long tube headers, header back exhaust, tuned (we run pig rich, in case you don't remember my dyno from fall), manual trans.

Can probably safely say 5-10hp is attributed to lose in the transmission between auto and manual.

I think you're making very good power considering your mods. A CAI won't show a lot of gain on the dyno since your hood is open, the real gains to that will be noticeable on the streets.

Still though... i'm at 236 vs stock 217.

RIPP is advertising 288 (realistically like 275 for me, being an automatic, right?)

The fact that their cars aren't running cats and your car is, is possibly why you aren't seeing the kind of gains they're claiming.

Picking up 19 whp on a DD dyno for doing N/A I/H/E w/stock cats is not bad at all. Your factory exhaust was well designed as was the intake with that little WOT flapper door. Was your car 217 whp stock? If not, its tough to compare going from one dyno to another even if they are both DD.

I was thinking that as well... but would that really account for the huge amount of difference? I don't know at all how much a cat makes a difference, but it would have to be like 10whp to even make the difference that I am lacking.

But maybe it would? I dunno... haha.
