So i am getting ready to apply to radiology schools and talking more and more to people in the field it seems like the average salary is 40k.
I don't really know how much this is because i have never really had a steady job with set hours every week or salary to know.
Plus the last 2 years have really been the only ones i have kept an eye on what i have been spending and what not.
I am asking cause computer analyst jobs have been catching my eyes a lot, with the high pay and most part set hours, plus problem solving is something i like, i like to be challenged.
Down fall is that if you don't have a 4 yr in computer science you won't really make that much from what i have been reading the last few days.
I didn't persue computer science cause i was always told that the job outlook was low, as would be the earnings with so many people going into that field.
Thanks for listening. :lurk::news:

Computer science is tough right now, if you go into the business side of it, like MIS.. there are more oppurtunities. CS majors do alot more on the programming side, which I dont really enjoy.
You could probably get into a help desk job, or something similar in support and make 30-40k.
35k is about 1800 a month after taxes, just to give you an idea.

What specifically do you want to do as a computer analyst? What did you do in school, and what's your resume like? Send it to me, I'll help ya out: chris@snowsecurity.com. Also, feel free to list skills and whatnot here for further discussion.
$40k is a very nice starting wage. A good way to think of it is to convert every $20k/year into $10/hour wage, since this is probably what you are used to measuring your income in. Working a salary position at $40k/year will give you right around $900-1000 take-home every two weeks, or around $2k/month.

I'm done with school for good on thursday... yay. time for a "real" job... hello fast 1g? or hello evo? haha.
In a sense, $40k / year is NOT that much. You might be able to afford an OK house with that much, but that depends on your standards. Just get married to a sugar momma.

40K a year = $3,333 net a month, or about $1250 take home every two weeks, depending on taxes and health coverage costs.

Like said above, $40k/year is about $20/hour and is a decent starting salary. You won't be rich or living like a king, but its enough money to live comfortably and drive something decent. Another thing to remember are the other perks that generally come with good jobs like a 401k plan, medical benefits, paid-vacation days, etc.

$40k/yr ÷ 52/wks ÷ 40/hrs = $19.23/hr

I remember talking to you a bit about this when I bought your tranny. Next time to register for Radiologic Tech at Century is Jan. '09. Shitty thing about Century is that you have to do all these stupid pre-reqs that take about a year. So if you start Spring '08 you should be able to register when I do, but you'll probably have a better chance to get in than I do. My gpa is a little low from my first year fuck ups. Volunteer work is a + when you register along with a min. of 2.5 gpa.
Twenty Dollars per hour avg. for that 2yr, I think is a pretty good start but like someone mentioned you wont be living like a king. I guess it depends on the lifestyle you want to be living. Im going to be taking a career class next semester to see if I want to stick to Radiologic Tech. or not. Forty Thoursand a year might not live up to my expectations.

Don't forget on salary you can end up working more than 40hrs a week but you get paid the same amount. I'm glad I'm salary with overtime, my manager isn't.

Yeah your take home on 40k depends on your benefits and what-not. Whether you do 401k etc.
