i think we have to come to the conclusion that we need these things to be cheaper somehow.

Get them made in China. IS there any other company out there doing this?

So you have 3 on your list, and you have 3 (me, Brownman, User Name) that are all in if you can get it to 10. That means 4 more people...

Is there a "due date" for this? I'm sure we can get 10 people to sign up for this, may just take another 2 weeks.

And let me know about the colors.

No due date, I dont think the people that are currently on the list are in a big rush and I havent posted an "order date" yet. I was half thinking letting this sit for a month or so. I emailed them for some more info on custom colors, I'll let ya know what I get back

Here's the info I got back about the backlight color:

Backlight panel on 1 x 16 characters display works with four LED diodes. Two
diodes are on the left side of the display and other two are on the right
side. Diodes glow into a piece of plastic, size of plastic is identical to
the display size and the plastic is perforated on the top side where it
touches the display panel. These perforations works like small prism and
they enable the light to exit the plastic and go through the display.
Factory LED's inside are green but the problem is that the lcd panel also
performs as a weak green filter. This color of the lcd panel occurs due to
the two polarizing filters. Another problem is that space for the LED's
inside is around 1.5mm (0.1 inch) and if leds are any other color than green
they must be much brighter in order to go through LCD system. Changing the
leds with others of different color is not a problem, stock colors are
green, yellow, blue, red orange and white, white will however pull to the
green color due to basic green color of the LCD.

So basically any color there is an LED for which should be just about anything you could want.

So it sounds like they can't actually make the numbers illuminate red, and just have a black backround, correct? Thanks for the info, and if that is the case then I suppose I'll just stick with the normal green like yours is.

Well there are 5 people now, I'm going to leave it a bit longer for anyone else that wants to jump in, then I'll collect money and order.
