I'm sure we've all seen the 14b's, and i've removed the one in the GSX about 4-5 times and done my fair share of looking at it and checking it out. My main question is the turbo is a gravity fed oil feed, and the WP or normal flow of the water cools the turbo as well. BUT, with the GSX one of them will be sitting as it normally does in the cars, manifold plate up, and the other manifold plate down. Will this matter for the oil feed for the one that will be upside down? I havn't actually taken the thing completely apart and looked at the internals. Just want to make sure there's nothing inside that moves the oil through the system in one direction. Something someone asked today and i couldn't answer.

My understanding is the oil just flows through and lubricates(cools) the turbo some without any internal fins or groves to move the oil through... right?

clock it so the drain is down

So it does matter which way the gravity feeds though then?

oil in the top and drain out the bottom

It isn't gravity feed. It is pressure fed. But return system relies on gravity.

That i know, but i'm asking if it is possible to run the in line though the old return line and vice-versa? I can turn it so the oil drain line is down, but i'm more wondering for physics sake. I know they sell top mount manifolds for the TD05 turbo's, so i don't know if people jsut bolt them right up, or if they turn the center housings on them.

I supose my first post was a little... different then what i intended it to be, I thought about having a manifold made for the rear so it would be a downward facing turbo as well. But it would give me little to no room to work with and would actually put the pipe going the wrong direction. So just wondering if i do keep it a top mount if the oil feed/return location was inportant.

It should work fine like that, I would be safe and reclock it though.

You can't clock the turbine housing, only the compressor housing. There is a guide pin so the oil inlet will end up being upside down no matter what: it will always face the same direction as the turbine housing inlet.

Just do what you are talking about and feed oil into the outlet and drain out the inlet. It will be fine.

These are going on your stealth I assume? You will be making some phat powa!

I think its for a 3/S.

It will be going on the stealth, getting adaptor plates and welding it on the exauhst. Just wondering if i can do a bolt in or if i'll have to spin the back one. Will be needing random parts here and there, but should go on sometime durring the winter. Turned my car off with the turbo's still warm... not running right so now i've got a good reason to replace them. :-DFigure 11 psi on the stock springs will be enough for starters.
