Well said. Kids are too protected these days, we're building a culture of pansies. There's too much crying and whining. I can't imagine what it will be like when and if I have kids.

In the 70s there were no Emo kids... We grew them.

Why cant we go back to when days were like that...

They weren't quite that good. A brand new Corvette had 190 horsepower, the Mustang Cobra II had about 165 horsepower. The Dodge Omni was the preferred economy car. People had bell bottoms that covered their shoes. The pet rock was actually a phenomenon. But the first Star Wars came out, which was cool. I still remember standing in line for it at the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth.

Oh, and people still got beat up and shootings occured, but you only heard about the local ones, not every national tragedy that takes place. Remember, we only had three channels back then.

Any idea when that theater closed? They finally built a nice one near Canal Park, before that it was just the dumpy ones in/near Hermantown.

I actually get in this topic of conversation all the time it seems. And I'm in full agreement wish society went back to the old ways. Keep the new technology, but wish society still had some sort of rememberance of traditions.

Hell My Ex-Wife is a great example of whats wrong with society.

1)waits 1 year to file for divorce that way she can get house / spousal maintaince. Files a Domestic Disturbance charge against me, even though I was working 16hrs a day and never went home. Just so she could move her things out with out incidence and find the Tape I had of her beating on me. - Result,I had to leave the house with no money, no car, and no place to go for 5 days, the charges get dismissed, due to no evidence, and she had to leave the house and got nothing. But nothing happens to her

2)She moves in with Chad(the real father of Kiley, the baby girl who she said was mine, hence the marriage), and then leaves him, for another man who has more money, but before she leaves she files assualt with a deadly weapon against Chad(hoping this would accomplish 2 things, 1 get chad out so she can move in peace 2 go on his record so he can't go after custody of Kiley). He spends 2 days in jail, she moves her things out along with some of his stuff as well as takes his Mazda 6. Charges dropped/dismissed no evidence and again nothing happened to her

3)The boyfriend she moved in with, she then leaves for his best friend. But before she leaves she files theft charges against him, because he wouldn't let her take anything he'd bought for her. He went to jail for a day and now is no longer allowed to see his 2 kids (I know this cause he contacted me personally to see if there was anything he could do to help me with my divorce).

She embodies everything that is wrong with society IMO. And just like this topic, I don't even know if I ever will get married again let alone have kids. And honestly that's all I ever wanted in life was a family.

Think about our grand-parents upbringing, then our parents, and then ours, Look at how much society has changed, I can't even imagine what it'll be like for our kids when they get to be our age. But then again I know my mother has been saying that exact thing for some time now and so did my grandmother. Personally I think society is on a huge downward spiral and won't stop till finally we've had enough of all the B.S. There will probably be another civil war unless by then they've outlawed all guns.

^wow.

I just want these days to be like the movie "dazed and confused".

What do you think will have to happen in order for our "generation" to change into a better place? I dont see anything getting different really.. But then again, in thirty years, our kids may say the same thing. "mom, why cant life go back to how it was in 2007?" Or maybe our parents in the 70's said to there parents, why cant life be like it was back in the 50's? and so on...

Overall I'd still take life now than how things were in the past. Look at all the cool stuff we get :)
