So I just got a phone call from my brother who wanted to know if I was interested in helping a friend of his do this reality show called Set up.
Anyone heard of it?
Basically I was told I'd need to take a month off work. (not a problem here) and just be a mechanic. I told him I'm just a wrench I wouldn't really know much more then that. He said thats all hes looking for. And that he has till Monday to let the show know if hes in.
Anyways anyone watch this show or know anything about it? Dial up is rediculious to try to get onto speedchannels website to search.

Haven't seen the show as I don't watch a lot of TV, but it seems your brother isn't the only one gunning to win this thing...

Ya I just got the fax from Josh the Driver who got onto the show. he might still need a Crew Chief (I don't want that position) if anyone is interested.
More info:
Dates: I have to be available from Oct 22 - Nov 21st. (stay as long as you advance in activities)
Location: LA
Responsible: Own food, clothing, housing, airfare if need be
As long as my application to be his mechanic is accepted by the show I'll definetely be on the show (no idea how much but experience will be fun)
I guess they provide the cars we just show up. And the goal is to be the best team that can "Set up" the vehicle we are given. Lucky for me Josh is the brains I'm just 1 of the 2 wrench hands he's required to have to participate on the show. If anyone else is interested let me know ASAP i'll pass the word along. Not easy to find someone who can take off for that long of time.
Anyways I'll post more as it comes up I'm now filling out the 20+ page application so I'll post back when I'm done.

Its a pretty neat show. The first season they used Solstice GXPs, and once you got thru the bullshit, the racing was good.

I LOVED that show... how did he get on it? It seems really cool. 10 cars all exactly the same, only difference is the setup and driver. So alot of close racing and alot depends on the driver.
How would people be able to take that much time off work and still pay expenses... seems like that would be really hard to do.
one thing though, last year they had 20 people show up and they cut the field in half the first day at a shifter kart TT.
It would suck to have all that planned out and then get shot down the first day.

Ya I heard we start with Karts. Anyways heres some more info.
Josh - Driver is a mechanic for an SCCA BMW race car. Also has an 95 M3 he's building to race in the scca events. Has been racing all types of cars over the past few months. (the week prior to the event he has an scca race, road race and a Kart race to drive) so at least he's practicing.
The Chief Mechanic (don't remember his name) - worked as a lead mechanic at BMW.
I'm just the no-body who isn't working so I make up the 3rd spot. As for the money well we don't get anything (chief or I) the only person to get a prize is the driver. Now he can offer to split but they said it should be worked out ahead of time. (I really don't care I think it'll be fun regardless Never been to LA)
I could care less if we get kicked off first day It'll still be worth it. Hell I'd probably just take a week and site see if that happens.
Anyways thats the 411 so far.
