Ok, so im not sure how many of you have seen this movie but i did a search on the site and noticed that there hasnt been a post about this. So here goes...
If you have not seen this movie you NEED to go see it. As with most of Michael Moores movies it really gets you pissed off.
Some call him anti american, I totally disagree. Hes not anti american, just a man who has the balls to speak out about what is going on with this country. The politicians that we currently have are completly worthless. They should all be sent to a remote island as well as the lobbyists, then we bring in all new people that are actually chosen by the people and are not corrupt.
Im sorry to you die hard bush fans, but if there is a single soul in the US that is still supporting this asshole, please WAKE THE FUCK UP.
When a 9/11 hero is denied health coverage after recieving a pulmenary disorder from breathing the toxins at the site because they were not employed by the city but just helping their fellow man, it makes me sick. But when they can actually go to CUBA and they get the doctors and tests needed to treat them for FREE, and the medicine that costs over $120 in the US for $.05 (not a typo, that is 5 cents) its outrageous.
The movie was actually REALLY well done, he didnt go hating the US and saying everyone should leave the US because its better in other countrys, all he is saying is that we need to start standing up for our rights as human beings and help out our fellow man. Socialist Medicine is NOT a bad thing but a VERY good thing.
Im moving to England and taking my DSM with me dammit. Left Hand Drive FO LIFE.
Watch the movie and comment, please dont come on here and post "i hate michael moore" without seeing this movie.

oh christ... another ones whos fallen for moore's propoganda.

ill first start by saying that SOME of what he says and shows in the movie is correct. america's health care system is not what it should be.

my biggest problem with this movie (and all his movies) is how he pulls on peoples heartstrings to get them to follow along. they are always short, quick examples made to pull you in.

main example is the woman who got into a car wreck and needed an ambulance ride to the hospital. she got the claim and it was denied because the ambulance ride was not pre-authorized. of course it wouldnt have been pre-authorized as she was in a car wreck.

you know what it would have taken to get that resolved? a 5 minute phone call. it was a simple claim processing mistake. the ambulance ride was most likely submitted as a non-emergency ride to the hospital. she could have made ONE phone call, and it would be a non-issue. but moore finds this woman and exploits a claim processing error.

do you remember how this situation was resolved in the movie?

and that whole cuba bullshit. ill just say this... ive never seen a group of more attractive, smiling, happier to help doctors and nurses in my life. the whole staff of the hosiptal looked like the telemundo version of a soap opera. anyone could see that the entire situation was fucking setup.

I'm not a huge fan of Moore's story telling style. Like polishmafia said, he does tug heartstrings to make his points. It's legitimate as creative license, but it bugs me. That doesn't undermine the over-all point that healthcare in this country is way off track. Some are way over insured, some are uninsured. And EVERYONE pays way too much.

Of course he dramatizes the situation, for a lot of this country, that is the only thing that will actually sink in to their thick skulls. For the others, it at least gets the point across, no matter if you like his style or not.

I took my dad with me to see this movie(I've never gone to a movie with my dad before btw. :P ), because he is a MD who has practiced in this country for over 40 years. He said "I lived that for over 40 years". Meaning it is pretty much right on(relatively of course). He said the health care system was decent when he started practicing, but has consistently gotten worse till today.

There is a perfectly good reason for pulling people into that situation by telling peoples expirences, So that the viewer can do his/her own research and figure out what is actually going on.
Its like he said in the movie, He posted a comment on his website to email him your medical stories, and in a matter of a week he had over 30,000 emails.
Its not propaganda if what he says is true. He interviews the people that have actually Denied peoples coverage, from the inside. Also if you go on his website (www.michaelmoore.com) and click on sicko, then click on Facts, he has the references that actually backup his documentary.
