I was thinking about getting a job, but I've always wanted to have my own small business (or one day a large business). I have thought about some things to sell, like hats or t-shirts, but I just think that would lead to almost nowhere. Maybe not, but I need some suggestions. If some idea comes up that is good enough to try and market, i might just try to do it.

I have thought of starting a moving company, since the one I work for is completely bass ackwards. But that would require hiring workers, which would be a huge first step. Maybe something smaller.

Any ideas?

Tinting cars? What about a small cleaning business?

Think of what you enjoy and try to do that. Find something you are excited or passionate about. People can always tell when you are doing it just to do it. What ever you do sell, believe in it. If you do, it won't be selling at all. Good Luck!

I like getting things done efficiently, and working on cars, but I don't want cars to be my business. I'm a pretty good mover, and I really hate the way they do it at my company now. I could start a company of my own, just rent a truck and do jobs untill I have enough dough to buy a truck. That's the physical labor way. I would really like to do something that's not too labor intensive. Since I want to be able to walk when I get past 60.

I know what you mean about physical labor. My back isn't like it used to be. Hmmm, how about a courier service. Efficiency and moving combined. You can limit the size based on the vehicle. If you are self employed the only real start up costs would be commercial vehicle insurance.

I think the best is to do a small office type enviroment. One that can take you 1-3 hours to clean. Pick one contact first than move onto two and three and so on. I would not do something I enjoy because I can get burnt out. I used to love car stereo. Work as an installer for one year and did not even want to touch my car because I was so burnt out.

Maybe the car stereo burn out was from only sticking to the installs and not expanding it or; it turned out to be a temporary interest. Without growth and goals everything turns to burn out.

Yeah. I could get into the car business and start a little dealership. Mod the cars a bit and resell them for the price, plus mods, plus a bit. It could work, maybe in minneapolis, not here in fartgo.
