OK guys, here it is. The ARP L19 Group Buy thread.

A quick re-cap:
This idea came to mind after a discussion with other DSMers regarding head studs. Many guys are seeing high cylinder pressures these days, and there is a need for stronger head studs that have a higher tensile and yield strength. Many are switching from standard ARP 8740 studs to the H11 tool steel A1 studs. The only problem for some is the price. Some guys are on the line to where they need something stronger than the standard ARP's, but they also can't justify $400 for 10 studs on their DSM. Hence: this group buy. These studs are custom-made by ARP in their L19 material. This is identical to the H11 tool steel used in the A1's. They also have a yield strength of 230,000-260,000 PSI.

We need to sell 15 sets of each for this order to go through. It will be an 8-week wait once the order is placed.

These kits will be sold with the standard 180,000 PSI nuts and washers. So, if you already have a set of standard ARP's and you simply want to upgrade, you can re-use your washers and nuts. The choice is up to you.

Pricing:

6-bolt - with washers and nuts - $240 shipped
6-bolt - without washers and nuts - $210 shipped

7-bolt - with washers and nuts - $200 shipped
7-bolt - without washers and nuts - $185 shipped

I'm going to let this GB ride until we get up to 15 of each sold.

If you want a set, please PayPal the correct amount of money to: nindningst@qtm.net
Please be sure to include the following information with your payment:
* Forum that you found this GB on
* Username on that forum
* Description of the kit you want (IE: 6-bolt w/ washers and nuts, etc..)

Also, please make sure your address on your PayPal address is correct. I will keep everyone updated via e-mail or PM once the order has been placed.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here, PM me, or e-mail me.

Thanks,
-Paul Volk-

Since this is your first post, what assurance does anybody here have that they will indeed get their parts?

Realistcally, very few people here actually need these. Cylinder pressure is not so much a function of turbo boost as it is overall horsepower. People seem to think these days that just because they are going to run 30psi they are going to need some insane studs when in fact the oem 1g studs will probably hold whatever they throw at them under the 600whp mark.

Oh well, spend your money how you see fit.

He has this listing on DSMlink forums, so I'm sure it is legit. As far as the studs go our shipment will be in sometime next week if you want them sooner, but they will cost a little more than this group buy price...

Understandable. This is posted on the Link boards, just as Chris explained. I'm also a Moderator on www.wmdsm.com (http://www.wmdsm.com) and www.dsmtuners.com (http://www.dsmtuners.com) (same username), so, trust me, I'm not going anywhere. :) If you need more assurance, I'd be happy to PM you my phone number and/or my address. I just lurk here and play the arcade. :)

He has it listed on NABR as well. Plus, I've been scolded by him on Toonerz before so I can confirm his moderator status there. :bullrider:

A 500+ WHP street driven DSM is not that uncommon these days. There's a hell of a lot of DSMers pushing 60+ lbs/min on their set-ups and they are lifting their head and blowing gaskets. It all boils down to the standard ARP's stretching. not because they are junk, but rather, they just aren't being used on the engines that they were designed for.

Back in the day when you were the shit for having a 380HP 20g powered 1G, the standard studs were fine. It seems we've up'd the par lately. And that's why vendors can't keep the A1 studs on the shelf. There ARE alot of people out there that need something like this.

Your admin said it best here (http://www.mitsustyle.com/forums/showpost.php?p=198442&postcount=6).

Keep us posted as to how this is going. I am going to try to work it into the car fund. That is a good price and I know I am pushing the std. ARP's.

Update:

Tally is now:

6-bolt: 8 sets sold
7-bolt: 2 sets sold

Also, I just wanted to point out the the 8-week manufacturing wait is just a standard estimation that ARP gives out. I have since learned that the ACTUAL wait time will probably be around 4-5 weeks.

Ahh, I see it now, Paul Volk. Tsk, tsk, selling stuff on my board as a FNG. I'll let that one slide this time.

I'll probably jump in on this myself if I lift the head at all in Norwalk this weekend.
