I was just wondering if anyone can help me with this situation.

Car: 1990 Eagle Talon

BOV: Tial BOV 50mm

spring: unknown

I had a few buddies telling me that my usual tial bov noise is actually a compressor surge. Because of the fact that my spring is too heavy and that I should get a lighter one. My boost guage at idle reads -19 to -20. On the Tial chart it says that I should be running a 11psi Spring.

The sound on the car sounds like this

Is this compressor surge? If it is where can I order the spring from because the official tial website doesn't have a ordering option.

And last but not least if I do switch my spring, will it sound like this?

If you have a small turbo then I dont think thats comrpessor surge.. I had a tial with my 16G and then a 20G and it fluttered like that for both turbos becuase they didnt flow enough air to blow off in one "sneeze" so it flutters instead.

Compressor surge comes from the turbo, usually during spoolup. It happens when a big turbo spools too fast for a small motor. The turbo puts out more air than the engine can take in and the flow starts backing up all the way to the turbo compressor housing. Eventually the flow backing up causes the turbo to stop or go backward, which is quite hard on it. That is compressor surge.

I've only got a evo3 16g on there so I dont' think that it's compressor surge. I just thought I'd ask you guys to be sure.

That's how just about every Tial BOV I've heard sounds. And yeah, definatly not compressor surge.
