Hey guys i thought i would put up my project in here so here we go.
I bought my car in may of 2006, the car had its issues but i was content. I traded my 1992 honda prelude that i bought for $700 dollars for it.
I could tell that it needed some work, needed new timing belt tensioner and timing components, along with a set of inner and outer tie rod ends. So after a weeks worth of driving and adding a boost gauge and air filter, the car went into the shop for a new timing belt. Well the shop that i took it to screwed up and didnt align the balance shafts properly, brought the car home, tore it back apart redid the timing and the car ran like a champ.
The paint was faded and painted with some flat black house paint in certain areas to cover up the horrid paint fade. The car was black with a silver bottom. Well around here there are alot of black and silver ones, so i decieded to paint the bottom black to match the rest of the car, along with painting the wheels a semi flat black.
The car was running pretty decent, but something was just not right, it would smoke while idling and under boost would get worse. Well i shrugged it off thinking it was my rich condition for not recircing the bov, so off to the track i went. My best for the night was a 14.5@93mph. The car started overheating badly at the track so i deceided to call it a night and bring the car home. I installed an afc along with a turboxs boost controller, and then bought a jeep for everyday driving while i started doing work to the talon. well issues with the jeep arose so i traded that for a 95 gst.
So with the talon parked and driving the gst i deceided to swap turbos on my gst. So there the talon sat broken hearted. Well about 1000 miles later the rod bearing spun on the eclipse, so i deceided to put the talon back together and drive that. Worked on the car for 2 days straight replacing things that i took off. Finally the talon was ready to run again after sitting for 4 months. Put some gas in the tank jumped in the driver seat and turned the key. Nothing. Tried again, and nothing. So after many hours of diagnosing found out that the engine harness was toasted.
So from there i bought a parts car, stripped the harness and any useable or resellable parts, and junked the parts car. Put the new harness in, but then after doing a compression test, found that the headgasket in the car was blown (damnit!). So i decieded to yank the motor put in a new clutch and a mls headgasket along with arp hardware. After pulling the motor, i found that all four motor mounts were tore the hell up and because of this and my launches, the front motor mount had busted right off the front of the block.
After all of this i deceided to buy a whole new motor and start working on the body work of the car along with a color change to make the car different than all the other 1gs in town. So thats where the car is sitting now, broken hearted, stripped of its skin, and sitting like a homeless man with no shoes.
The paint color that i am going is durango copper pearl, with the black top.
as far as performance mods go here is the rundown once i get a new engine
2g pistons on 1g rods
polished and balanced crank
272 cams on stock head
mls headgasket
arp headstuds
arp lower end hardware
mitsu factory timing belt
act 2100 clutch with fidanza lightened flywheel
ground control coilovers with kyb struts
dsmlink
bullseye t04b vtrim
ported 2g exhaust manifold
780cc injectors
255lph fuel pump
aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
stainless steel alcohol tolerant fuel lines
e85 conversion
3 in turbo back exhaust with 3 in electric cutout
maybe a 50-65 shot of nitrous
now after all of this here is some pics of what the car looked like before
