I just installed an amp and woofer in my 2001 eclipse spyder GTS. Currently I am manually turning the amp on and off.

Normally, I would run a wire from the "power antenna" wire behind the head unit all the way to the amp. But, on the stock head unit, it is a full databus running out from the head unit, so I have no way of finding a power antenna wire.

Has anyone had any experience getting a remote/ignition/power-antenna signal from a stock head unit set up? I've heard that there is somewhere under the driver-side dash where you can pull the signal from an ignition wire, or from a wire leading to you gauge cluster, so that when you turn on your key, the amp gets signal from there.

Any ideas? Im really hopin for like a picture of where to pull the wire or at least a solid description because at this point I am totally lost and am going to spend a lot of money on batteries the way I continue forgetting to turn my amp off manually whenever I go somewhere.

Hook it up to your parking lights. Turn the lights on BOOM you have bass shut them off and no one knows whats lurking in your hatch.

Yea just tap into a wire that has power when the ignition is turned on and you'll be golden.

Wont you just grab the power wire from you cigerette lighter. It only comes on when your car is on. But than when your radio is off your amps will still be on. Never mind scratch that idea.
