HOLY FUCK! That was the best 1810 miles in 5 days ever! We had great weather most of the time, experienced amazing roads, scenery, and wildlife, and top-down 75% of the trip. We have 200+ pictures so I'll see if I can get a gallery setup within the next few days.
Thurs night: Houghton, MI
Fri night: Mackinaw City, MI
Sat night: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Sun night: Thunder Bay, Ontario
I drank my fair share of alcohol, ate lots of greasy "local" foods, and VTEC'ed through some breath-taking area. Some of the scenery and roads in the UP and Ontario make MN's best seem like a complete joke.
The bridge pictured above is the Mackinac Bridge connecting the UP of MI to mainland MI, it is 5 miles long with a toll of $2.50/car. There was another large bridge to get into Canada, that had a toll of $2/car.
The S took a ferry ride to some small island in the UP that only had 1 main road, luckily there happened to be a local bar on that road where we enjoyed some lunch and awesome restrooms that were behind curtains.
Our longest day was Sunday going from Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay (entire Lake Superior Canadian shoreline), we traveled about 450 miles.
That does sound like an awesome trip!! I wish I would have had some time off so we could have made the drive too.

If you can ever take a few days off work I highly recommend the drive to anyone looking for a great road trip.

What did you do Saturday? It doesn't look that far... i.e. between:
Fri night: Mackinaw City, MI
Sat night: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Mackinaw is a big tourist area for Michigan. Did you see Tom's Mystery Spot?
