What are the hardware specs on it? I'm sure it runs about the same w/XP as it would with win2k.

You can run XP on that. A year a ago we still had some 766 machines running XP used at the teller stations at my bank. We since upgraded to 3.0G. You should bump that memory up to at least 512meg. There is probably 2 memory slots in that laptop. Sometimes both slots aren't always side by side. I've come across laptops where one slot is easily accessable at the bottom and the other slot is on the motherboard which is a pain in the ass to get at. Check ebay for memory.

That hard drive is small. How much HD space is free space, 5 or 6 gig?

Yeah that system should be ok for XP. The differences between the 2 OS' were fairly minor as far as system requirements. 2000 would obviously run a bit quicker on it but it wouldn't be worth the downgrade.

word.

With nearly 9GB available of free you should be fine. I just wanted to see how much you had free to make sure there was enough for the pagefile space.

I would look into upgrading to more RAM. It'll make using your computer more enjoyable.
