This is a non-dsm related question and just thought I post it on here if any of you gurus know what's going on with this car. My wife took it to work and it was fine but when she got off of work and was getting ready to leave, the shift knob wouldn't move to any of the gears at all. The car is a 94 Celica Automatic. One of my buddy suggested that maybe it's the spring of some sort in the shift knob that's causing that problem as he once had a similar problem. We doodle around with it for awhile and still no luck. Now I am here to ask if you guys might have another better solution to this issue.

I checked the transmission fluid and seems to be good. Car runs fine, it just wont shift.

Shift cable, throwout bearing? If you take apart the consol and the spring is still intak I'd find some help.

There is usually a cable that runs from the ignition or the steering counsole that unlocks the shifter from park. Correct me if i'm wrong but it could have broke be stuck or frayed. Unless its electronic that it could be bad wire, loose, or dirty connection.
