I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I was knocked out for it. It was great, woke up and it was all done; I felt no pain during or after.
Had a root canal done Feb. Didn't put me under but the entire side of my mouth was numb during the process. Didn't hurt a bit. Only thing that hurt was the $700 payment. They suggest a post and crown within a year because the tooth will get brittle. That's another $800. Screw that.
As long as we're on a tooth subject, has anyone had a root canal done and not a crown on that tooth, if so..how many years are you on now without a crown?
Get the fucking crown, this is exactly why I had to get the tooth yanked today. Cause one day when I was new at ATK almost 2 years ago I was eating a milk dud and the tooth broke a bit. Little by little it got worse and eventually got really bad, my gum got infected, and after I saw the x-ray I knew it was no laughing matter. Basically I was a walking time bomb to where I could of woken up one morning with an infection that was the size of a golf ball.
Over the last 2 years I've spent a lot of time getting my teeth fixed up, and even had some serious cosmetic work done for preventative reasons. I'm not ashamed to admit I was horrible as a kid and in my teen years for keeping my teeth good and clean, but I do realize how important it is now. I wouldn't suggest putting anything off very long.

What about in the days to come? All my wisdom are in now, but they want to take them out. And when I have good insurance again I'll probably do it, but I can't stand being laid up. This one tooth it bad enough, thank god I have a laptop I can cuddle with.

I was back at work the next day. The only reason I used one of the 15 Vicodins given to me was b/c I was bored sitting at home and just wanted to sleep (this was the day-of the pulling).
Getting wisdom teeth pulled definitely seems to effect everyone differently, but the sooner you get them pulled the better.

I'll have to take your advice and get the crown done this summer. They told me at the time that they recommended around 6 months or so. It's my back bottom molar. I hardly chew much back there.
Was yours a molar too or one of the frontal teeth?

Had my wisdoms taken out a couple years ago, none were out yet, one was peaking though. They put me under and woke up to what seemed like a few mins later, they wheeled me to the car, got my prescription for vicodin and went home and slept for a long time. It wasnt bad at all, but the saltwater rinse was gross...
I remember vicodin really fucking with me taking only half the dose too. lol

Getting a tooth pulled is the worse. After I got my wisdom teeth pulled I could hardly eat for 2 weeks because I could not open my mouth.
Well good luck, I hope you start feeling better soon!

I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled. They wouldn't be willing to knock me out as I had no driver, so I stayed awake. boy, was that an experience. I could see my chipped teeth flying all over the place. And the worst part was, when they tried to numb my gumbs the first time, I guess they didn't put enough or in the right spot so I felt alot of pain on their first try until I corrected them.
My mouth was really sore, and bleeding nonstop for an incredibly long time.
I had my wisdom teeth (only had 3) extracted (oral surgery) when I was about 22. It was terrible. I think I was off work for most of the week, and I don't think I ate much for about a month after. Good way to lose weight though. :D
