Damn Brandon, that sucks. I've wanted a bike for some time, but I've always put off really learning to ride for my sake and for Jana's stress.

A friend of mine in his upper 40's who has ridden for the last 20+ years, and who is an active advocate for safe riding etc.. Was killed last November one Sunday morning around 11am. He was doing 30mph in a 30mph zone, when a lady coming head on in a SUV didn't see him, and pulled right in front of him. She was taking a left into a driveway or something, he had no chance at missing her, and he died on the spot. He was a very experienced rider with a lot of track experience both on bikes, and in his NSX and two 911's. It doesn't matter who you are, THEY JUST DON'T SEE YOU.

If you are worried about people not seeing you, there are headlight modulators that you can buy. They make the headlight blink so it really draws your attention.

Sorry Brandon, that sucks.

That 750 does look like the best deal. The YZF 600 is not an R6 (it is the older version) and the Z1000 I would stay away from. The 600 for $5500 isn't bad either, but the 750 is pretty much the same price.

FYI the 750 will wheelie all day long in 3rd gear. Normal riding I get about 140-150 miles on a tank of gas, so between 35-40 mpgish.

I say go for the 750 as well. It could get away from ya, as could a 600 or anything else with out some seat time, but as long as you know that why buy something you are going to want to upgrade later.

Good luck and wear the gear.

Ya i want to post my R6 for sale but with the $2200 damage(had an estimate done about 3 weeks ago) from Josh. I would never get what I want. I really want an R1.

Jet can you chime in about racing? I've heard rumors that they only allow bikes under 750cc to race at like DCTC and BIR? for the fun days? is that true? what are the general rules?

I was looking at the new Suzuki V-Strom 650's and they are only about $5900 brand new. Not a bad bike to run around on.

Someone should talk to someone about a group buy! Or we should all go in together on some 'Buddy Plan's'.

I've seen lots of cheap Buddy Plans now-a-days. But i'm sure they're cheaper to buy in the fall/winter around here.

The 600 for 5500 has a few mods, but I do not know if its worth the extra cash, there is a 600 for 4500cash/ obo, still looking.

Racing with the CRA is much different than most people think. I would get a dedicated race bike. There can't be any lights or anything on the bike. You can race the big bikes on the track, but noobs have to start out at 600cc or smaller. I would say find a SV650 and race in the lightweight class. I knew a few guys that raced their street bike for a bit, but soon changed their minds.

Buy barton's bike, that way swanny can pay the damage of bit by bit. and you get a bike finally.
