Ok, I made the mistake of using an impact wrench with my first one, and it stripped. I took the wheels off the evo today (no impact guns!) and when I went to torque down the last 3 lugs on the last wheel this happened. Does anyone know where to get either:

a) a decent spline-drive lug key or
b) some other lugs w/ a key that doesn't suck BALLS

Just to note: I used this key to torque down a few lugs after the original one stripped, and then used it to remove the wheels once and re-install wheels once. ONCE! GAHHH!!!

Just done use an impact and it will be just fine. Take a lug or the key to a parts store and see if they have anything that matches.

If you have no luck and need to buy new lugs, beat the key back into shape and have it welded so you can get the old lugs off.

My spline drive lugs/key work just fine. No problems after 3 years.

Good luck man!

I have a spare one, but it started to split just like this one on the same lug that this one split on. Could it be a bad lug nut? Or am I just a lugnut? You seriously used an impact gun w/ one of these w/ no beakage/strippage? How many times did you R&R w/ the same key?

I've used an impact a few times with it, but I dont like tq'ing lug nuts down with impacts... Tq wrench works just as well and I know what they are tq'd to. I usually use the impact just to take them off. I've also seen impacts snap the studs off when over tightened. Thats just another reason why I dont use one.

I used these for years on multiple sets of wheels and they were great. If you don't like this style, there are plenty of others available from Gorilla.

Check out discount tire store, but if they don't have it, you might be out of luck. Their key remover tool, pending on how the lugs sit on your rims, will not work properly. It can damage your wheel. There is also another tool or something they use, but the dude couldn't remember when I went there.

The second option, See if you still have the registration code and all other information when you bought your special lug / key. If you do, just give the company a call.

My sisters were messin with my stuff and lost my key. =(

If I'm not mistaken, they're just spline drive lugs, not a "keyed style" lug that requires a special key. Right Chris?
