I actually torqued the tensioner, but it ended up lining up at 5 degrees BTDC instead of 10. Is this ok?

Huh? What tensioner, what is at 5 degrees BTDC? If you are doing the timing belt, then the crank should be at 0 degrees BTDC.

All the guys on the dsmlink forums said that timing should be set at 10 degrees btdc, so that is what i set it at.
I should just change this topic to "Car wont start"
With the timing at 5 degrees BTDC the car is getting spark out of all plugs.
All of my dsmlink settings are correct.
I am getting fuel pressure to the rail, but i dont know how to check if the injectors are firing. The reason i am even considering this as a possiblity is that the injector electrical plugs are worn, Im going to replace them tomorrow. When i say worn, the plugs look like shit, and the wires are exposed.
The car keeps turning but wont fire up. The timing was off a lot before i did the timing belt this time, but now its dead on and still not firing.

Not all of us are members of the DSMlink forum.

What it sounds like they're referring to is the timing of the cam angle sensor, which is how the timing is adjusted, not by adjusting the timing belt tensioner. I think you're chasing the wrong monkey up the wrong tree.

That post is refering to your ignition timing. it should be set at 5 deg with the grd timeing box checked in miscilanious or the plug on the firewall grounded.

If your setting your cam timeing (timeing belt) there is a pointer on the oil pump housing that aligns with a mark on the crank.

Ya I'm confused on what you're saying you set to 10* or 5*. You put the belt on in such a way that all your marks line up.
http://vfaq.com/mods/timingbelt-1G.html
Then you change your base timing (degree) with the Cam Angle Sensor so you're at 5* BTDC with the timing plug grounded.

yeah you got it... you can adjust the base timing to whichever degree you want by advancing or retarding the cas. but make sure your tdc is at 0 after your set your timing belt..
later.

Don't confuse ignition timing, cam timing and actually lining up timing marks when doing a belt. They are all different things.

But even if i had it at 5 deg btdc on the crank it should still fire right? It was firing at 10 degrees btdc when i installed the motor originally.
