ok considering that we had the best street tire available, whatever it is, this is not a discussion for that. What would be the best size (15"-19") and width etc. for optimal performance on a FWD dsm driving style would be variety, mainly cornering and acceleration but ride comfort would not matter much.
That really depends on what you are looking for. Light weight, smaller is better. Sidewall flex, bigger is better. The best compromise is probably a 16 or 17. Wider is better for traction, so I would go with an 8" width. I have 235/45 on 17x8" wheels and they work very well for handling.

235's is as large as i'd place on a dsm without spacers, as it will begin to rub on the struts. overall diameter i'd say the 16" rim/tire combo will weigh more then the 17" rim/tire combo, that's both the SAME OVERALL DIAMETER (research "plus sizing"). That also depends on the weight of the 17" rim.

Go with a 17" wheel.
