I have a nearly stock (intake, recirc BOV, boost controller) '96 AWD Talon. I just checked the tires, and rears are worn down almost to the wear bars, and the fronts look almost new. This is after about 25,000 miles on BFG Traction TAs (all season) in 215/55/16. Any ideas on why this would be? The rear wear is pretty even, with just a little more wear on the outsides of the tires. I do 95% highway driving, and still only get 22-23 mpg. Any thoughts?

Get your alignment checked and make sure your tire preasures are properly set.
Your car is probably in need of a tune-up (plugs, wires, fuel injector cleaner, etc.) and a tune.

Yeah, I'm thinking I need an alignment, but it's weird that the rears wore almost evenly, just much worse than the fronts.
I have new plugs, wires, fuel filter, upstream 02, but I should clean my K&N.

Tire rotations are a good thing.

Tire rotations are a good thing.
Every other oil change I rotate mine.:seeya:
Normally the fronts wear faster than the rears on a DSM. It is always a good idea to rotate them about every 1/4 of tread life. Every 10k or so on normal tires, less for high performance tires.

That's what I thought too. Any reason why the rears would wear twice as fast? Anything to do with the T-case or something? Or just alignment?
Thanks for suggestions everyone.

check alignment, adjust camber if needed, rotate and check pressure. tires are just too friggen expensive not to do it.

Can any alignment shop perform a 4-wheel alignment of these cars, or do they need to have special equipment/be in the know?

If you have even tire wear across the face of the tire and the car isnt pulling there is no reason you should have your alignment checked. It would be a waste of money.
How often do you do your rotations? I recommend every 6-8k for all season tires.
