on a 98 tsi awd do you have to remove the stock foglights to install the greddy 24r frount mount?

I'm pretty sure you do since the piping seems to hit them. If your worried about the fog lights staying check out Hahn race craft. They got a FMIC that leaves the foglights and works pretty good, or so i hear. Also im sure QPR could custom make you one for cheaper and leave the foglights plus make it a short rout.

Hey Iceman,

How do you know that with the Hahn you won't lose your foglights? Have you seen a 97-98 talon with a hahn and the stock foglights?

Based upon your profile, it looks like you have some experience with using Hahn products on your '97 Talon, could you help out with the original question instead of questioning a response?

Cool? ;)

The original question has to do with a Greddy FMIC, which I don't have. How would my knowledge of Hahn products help me answer that?

Also, the reason that I'm questioning a response is because I'm curious, and when I'm on the verge of spending close to $1000 on an IC, I'd like to get the most information possible (e.g. Iceman).

If you're implying that I should start a new topic with my question then perhaps you're right.

Umm well i did some searching and found the HRC FMIC i was talking about. I use to have pictures of people with it, but have seemed to lost them. HRC FMIC (http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Desc.cfm?PartNo=PTHIC%2D1200&MakeCode=eagle&ModelCode=talon&ModelYear=1995%2D1998%20All%20Turbo&ModelDesc=Talon)

Anyway it shows you a 2g (97-98) with one on it. Almost looks like the lights were edited in though. I have heard good and bad about there FMIC kit. This Guy (http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=36162&highlight=Hahn+FMIC) didn't seem to have so much luck with it though. I do NOT have first hand experince with this product.

If I remember right, you only have to ditch the fogs on the 95-96s with the Greddy IC.

I'm pretty sure the "large" Greddy FMIC gets rid of the fog lights on all 95-99. I'll do some searching when i get home.

"Big GReddy 2G FMIC KIT $900

It's big. The Core that GReddy uses for this kit is 23" by 11". All piping to go to and from the stock intercooler location is included along with the necessary mounting brackets. On the 97-99 cars the fog lights will remain, on the 95-96 cars they have to go. It is built with the '97-'98 front bumper in mind however it will work on the '95-'96 bumper, you will most likely remove the grill strakes. Some cutting must be done on the end of the bumper reinforcement. It is not in an area where it will affect structural integrity."

yeah the 97-99 eclipse's keep the fog lights but the 95-96 goes. so i think the tsi fog lights will go too.

I read that post and it seems that the fitment issues that that guy was having was due to the fact that Hahn sent him the 420a kit instead of the 4g63 kit. So it seems that fitment shouldn't be an issue.

I've figured out that if I go with a Greddy or an Apexi I will have to lose the foglights for sure.

But as for Hahn, even after reading all the posts I could find, I still don't know. According to the info that I've found, Hahn's FMIC brackets mount using the stock fog light locations. So this means I'm screwed, unless it is possible to mount the fog lights on top of the Hahn brackets. (i.e. like a sandwich, you'd have the foglight bracket onto which the FMIC bracket would attach onto which the foglight would attach) Does this seem possible? Or is my thinking just plain wrong?
