I'm having some serious vibration when engaging into first from a stand-still. Every other gear seem to engage fine and tranny feels fine, although some gear engages on the highway weren't as perfect as usual. The vibration also goes along with a rattle. Tranny was rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago by Shep, ACT 2600 with approx 18,000 miles on it, new clutch slave and master and ss clutch line. Car is a 97 GSX with 119,400 miles.

What happens if you start from a stop in 2nd? I would look at a bad clutch disk first.

I haven't tried that. Someone was telling me it might be fluid/oil that got onto the clutch disk. What would be wrong with the clutch disk?

If it did, it'd probably slip as well. Check your three tranny mounts and your engine mount.

Nope, I was the one that told him that. When oil or similar gets onto a clutch disc, that specific spot actually tends to grab harder then the rest of the disc, which results in chatter. Depending on disc material of course..
