Not sure how much of you keep up on NHRA drag racing as much as I do but
Eric Medlen whom drives for JFR (John Force Racing) passed away today. Last Friday he blew a tire and took a direct hit into the gaurd rail. Hard to believe I stood right next to this guy a couple years ago up at Brainerd. Pretty sad news.

You can read the details at www.nhra.com

That is pretty sad. Not a way to go I guess. But he had fun doing it.

If I died doing what I loved, It wouldn't be fun. Racing for your job is a high risk profession.

Yea, you're basically riding on a missle. I wonder how long before NHRA goes to a safety wall barrier like NASCAR has. It's not going to save every life but I'd have to think it would help.

That's a good idea, but my cousin worked/works at interstate dragways during the season and that place is strapped for cash, if not losing it. I would venture to say that venues that have to close during the winter or aren't by a big city won't be able to afford something like that. On the other hand, any place that hosts NHRA is probably not hurting really bad.
