I don't post on this board much. I have been in the DSM world since 1993 - since Todd Day and the Talon Digest.

The reason for my post is because I am getting out of cars for entertainment (as fun as they are). I am in a tough position because I would like to sell the car whole but, realize I have a problem. The new knock sensor backed out and caused the timing to stay too high. This caused detonation and the head and 2G pistons are ruined due to melting. The block is in the car but everything to replace the head gasket is out of the car and will go with.

It is a white 1992 Eclipse GSX that I am the second owner of since June of 1997 (first owner was a lady from Hasting MN). The car hasn't seen a winter since 1999. I have complete records since then including receipts (most) of everything done, date and mileage at the time of the part installed. I have never cared much for drag racing. I have attended no more that two dozen events including the former AARRf events and Corvettes of MN.

Enough sentimental stuff - here's most of what's on the car:

1992 Eclipse GSX with 86,700 miles - no winters since 1999

Engine:

Head = toast
6-bolt block (1 over bore) seems fine but the 2G pistons are toast

Racer Wholesale Inj. Duty Cycle/AF gauge (blinky lights)Misc:

Carbon fiber hood vent
Holes cut in seats for 5-point harness (this is probably a bad thing depending on perspective)
Interior is AWESOME except the seat which I cut for belt grommets
Exterior is 8 out of 10 (couple scratches, no dings, no rust)
Flip-up Sun Roof not factoryThis car handles awesome, very neutral (no oversteer/understeer). Buried speedometer at Brainerd 145mph+ with in-car video to prove it. I have never been in an accident with it - never off track.

AC Removed
Cruise Removed (have parts)

I would like to see if anyone wants to offer a price for the car as a whole - otherwise I will part out. I am thinking around $4500 for the way it is. Much less than that and I will part it or fix it and sell it. If you bought it for $4500 and sold the parts you could probably make out on the deal.

I am not interested quite yet in people placing dibs on parts. I will let you know if no one is interested in the whole car. Email me if you have any questions - I have been completely honest in all my dealings and always will be.

I have rebuilt the engine: new pistons, remanufactured head with 3G lifters, cometic head gasket & misc. new stuff to put the engine back together. Runs great now. Looking to see if anyone is interested locally in it. Let me know.
