Whats the deal about this movie? The previews look kinda cool, I'm just wondering what the deal behind it is.

Its actually based on a true story of the persians taking over the greek/romans/people down there.
Basically these guys have a stand off to block athens and give them some time.
So there is teh background/history, now go see some super hyped movie about it

Totally not like lord of the rings. More like Sin City style graphics. The story is abuot 300 spartans that take on thousands and thousands of persians with so many arrows it blots out the sun.

Wasn't this called "The Last Samuri" the first time around?

That sounds pretty cool. I liked Gladiator and the previews kinda make it look like that. I also liked Sin City.
It is probably the best known battle to occur in the B.C. era. It's why most people know anything at all about Sparta. If the Spartans hadn't fought at Thermopylae they wouldn't really be remembered quite so well. In one sentence or less it's about 300 Spartans in a narrow pass beating the sh#t out of a million man Persian army for several days/a week in order to buy time for the Greek army to assemble.
