View Full Version : Where to buy a couch?
I'm going to be moving soon and I want to get some decent furniture. Specifically, I'm looking for a couch. I don't really want anything used, because I would like to know where it has been. Basically I don't want to sit there wondering if dogs or cats have pissed on it, or if big johnny sat on it naked while house sitting for the neibors.
I've looked around at a couple places, and it doesn't take long to realize that furniture is freakin' expensive, at least for decent stuff. I'm looking for something in the $300-$500 range and my options are looking pretty slim. I want something that is comfortable and high quality that will last a long time.
So, I was wondering if someone knows of some secret furniture clearance center that sells new stuff for decent prices. One place I went to had a clearance section, but it was a pretty small selection.
Thanks for the help.

Check out Becker Furnature World up in Becker. I got an awesome deal on a matching couch, love seat, and coffee table/ottoman last summer.
Chris is right on, plus there is a big place up near LSE off 169 in the Anoka area. I can't think of the name right now. I can't remmeber if the places up at the Albertville Outlets are any cheaper but you will find shopping for couches similar to cars, you can find some smok'n deals in smaller towns.
Maybe a Saturday trip down to Rochester as well?
I think I might go check out Becker this weekend. I've heard of them before (seem the commercials) but I don't think I've ever been there. If I don't find anything there I'll try to find that other place in Anoka. Is there some kind of furniture place in Rochester or something? I guess that's not too far out of the way. It might be worth a trip too. Thanks for the info.
I'll get the name of the Place in Anoka, and yeah, Rochester has a lot of smaller mom and pop shops as well. Visit some small MN towns on the outskirts of the burbs and they will generally all have 1 place to buy shit liek this and they are usually priced very good to keep locals from spending their money in the cities. Or just buy ours so I can get my sectional. :D
Where are you moving to Mark?
If you head to the place in Anoka, the Hom Furniture main office is on Hwy 10 on the Foley exit, they have a pretty good sized clearance section. Still not super cheap, but it is usually good stuff.

There is an excellent furniture store just south of Rochester.

ashley furniture off 169 in chaska has some good stuff.
I forgot about the Ashley furniture place. That's right near where I live right now, so I will definitely check that out. Jet, I'll be moving to South Minneapolis near Minnehaha creek, just over a mile from Lake Harriet. I went to the HOM in Bloomington and it looked like they had some good stuff. I'll have to check out the clearance center too.
Thanks everyone for the help. If I can't find a couch at one of these places, then there must be something wrong with me.

When I went furniture shoppinga a year ago, Ashley had the lowest prices of anyone. They keep their prices low because a lot of the furniture, it comes in the color that you see, and not a whole bunch of different colors and fabrics. Helps them keep the cost down I guess. So I bought mine from Ashley.
