I think they want to stay in the Edina/Minnetonka/Eden Prairie area since they both work down here now. Unfortunately, this is a very expensive area to buy. You may be able to find something cheaper further out into the Chaska area, but I for one would not be willing to move so far out.

I am running into this right now. I work in Eden Prairie now and would like to move to that area this spring but I dont think I can afford it.

Why not just get another townhome in the EP area? I was looking at some yesterday because I was bored at work and I found some nice ones right around EP shopping center for about 180-250. A house would be alot nicer but youll have to add another 100k or more to the pricing.

Have you thought about the possibility of renting out your current town home? If you could keeep it occupied, you may be able to at least cover the cost of renting an apartment. There's obviously a lot of risk involved in doing this, but if you're able to cover the mortgage and rent on another place, it could pay off huge someday. Then of course, when you're ready to get a house, you could either keep renting out, or just sell the townhome.

As far as cool places to live, you should check out Bristol in Bloomington. They have both rental townhomes and apartments. And they're all pretty nice too. I used to live there, and I think they've even remodeled a little since then. It would be easy access to 169. They're located right off Bush Lake Rd, about a mile north of Old Shakopee.
