Our older cat Chester passed away tonight in my arms while on the way to the vet. We got home from IA and noticed he had problems breathing so we called to get him in tonight yet for an emergancy exam. He didn't make it, he took his last few breaths in my arms in the backseat of Jana's car while we where on 94.

Safe to say we are pretty broken up about it, he's been part of our family for almost 9 years now and he was such an awesome cat. It's just something we never expected to deal with anytime soon and I hate not having him around.

Sorry to hear about that! Had things seemed normal with him before leaving town?

That really sucks guys, i feel for you.

At the very least you know you were doing everything you could to help him out. Being in your arms is probably exactly where he wanted to be.

Yeah, everything seemed fine before we left, same old normal cuddly lazy cat. I'm just glad he held on as long as he did, we where back out the door 30 min after we got home with him heading to the GV emergancy vet. It really fucking sucks though, I never thought I'd be this broken up over a pet but now I get it.

I'm sorry to hear that Allan. He was an awesome cat. It just won't be the same without him.

Sorry to hear, dude. :( Hopefully you guys replace him with a similar cat that isn't a psycho like that other one you have.

It's amazing how close people really get to their pets. I've suffered 2 dog losses in recent years, so I know how you are feeling. It sucks, but atleast chester is in a better place now. I'm sure he had a good life, with a great family.

My condolences to the both of you, it really sucks to lose a pet. I have lost a few dogs in the past and it is really difficult.

I didn't know him or anything, but I'm really glad you got home in time and were able to be with him. I've worked in a shelter as well as a vet clinic and seen a quite a few animals pass. It seems to be so much easier for them, especially cats if they can be held and comforted. I'm sure you guys being there made him much less frightened and more comfortable.
