Hey guys, got an oddball one. I'm working on a 97 Jetta that needs a new automatic transmission. I've checked car-parts.com and called all the local yards I could, but everyone wants over $1k for a 10yr old used tranny. I know it's a long shot, but anyone know someone who *might* have one for sale or a good place to get one for a bit less $ ??? Thanks.

Do you know of any vw forums, local club site...? The one I found vw vortex was ok, but the site is too large to find crap.
Chris, already looked there, but nothing in the area for cheap...

Definitely the forums or craigslist, I got one a few years ago for $600.

Hey Joe, is that a junkyard? What's the area code?
Steve, thanks. Been looking on Craiglist and posted a want ad there but no luck. Also been keeping an eye out on a couple VW forums, so I'll see what happens. $600 isn't bad at all, sure beats the $1000+ everyone seems to want for them.
