Forsfed and I are replaceing the clutch in an 01 eclipse GT with a V6 and a pull style clutch. I cant, for the life of me, get the clutch fork to release off the throw out bearing. the trans is still hagning in the car....
i read the alldata 10 times! anyone here wanna give me some advice? i am considering breaking the bearing through the darn pressure plate!!!
ARGGHHH!
thanks for any help in advance. it probably doesnt look good that i only stop by here when i need help with something.
Could it be similar to a WRX trans or an Evo? I know both of those use a different retainer compared to DSMs. The Evos are a pain in the ass until you get the first one apart and realize how they work. The WRX uses a wire type clip that must be removed before the trans will come out from the pressure plate.
I have never seen the trans out of a 3g so my comments probably wont matter. Just trying to throw ideas at you.
I'd suggest giving a call to Mitsu. I'm sure one of the techs or a service guy will be able to give you a little tip or 3 to help it along.

DSMStyle, i tried that. the service tech told me to bring it in, and that there was no way he could look something like that up....
on alldata it says remove bottom service plug on trans, insert flat blade screw drive and turn 90* will pushing on the fork. it will the release. may take several try's.
I cant get it to work! this sucks, i need to get this car done. :(
thanks for the tips guys, i appreciatte your help

Try to find a 3G/Stratus board, I'd imagine there has to be one. You could ask on MNSC too.
Yeah, might want to hop on over to mnscc.net and ask. Severl people over there have 3Gs, and should be able to get an answer pretty quick.

I use 1 or two prybars/flatblade screw drivers threw the throw out fork hole and pry between the TB and pressure plate, take the new clutch/tb and play with it and figure out how it works.

thats part of the problem, they sent me the wrong clutch and the correct clutch wont be here till friday or tuesday, so i have no idea how it comes apart or goes together....
go to a mitsu dealer.. and just get a new throwout bearing and see how its connected...
