Anyone wanna make room for me? LOL. I just saw all this thread. I am not working that weekend and would not mind coming along to cause some mayhem.
Going to drive the 3 and need somewhere to sleep or are you looking for a empty seat?

Either one would be fine with me. I am more worried about a place to stay than actually driving up. A good set of walkie-talkies will keep me entertained on the way up.

If we all had those cheap 2 mile range walkie talkies, that'd be sweet. I'd go in with someone on a set!
I'm going to look in my garage this week for my set.

Do they all generally communicate with each other? Anything in particular to look for when buying some to make sure they work with what everyone else has?

Yeah Uniden, Motorola, etc will all talk to one another. Although, some brands are clearly better than others. The 70-80 Motorola ones are spectacular from what I can recall. But, I have a set of the unidens that work just fine as well.
For a while I would turn one on whenever I was in my car. I had some VERY interesting conversations with random people. You would be suprised how many people use these on a daily basis.

I chatted with this guy who said he was from rogers and worked near minnetonka. Said he liked getting reach arounds. I quickly turned the channel. I think his name started with an A?

We used to try using these things when caravaning out to Rockfalls and with the loud exhausts and the constant static they were pretty much worthless and people spent more time saying "What?" and "Repeat that." than anything else. My advice is to stick with cell phones, but feel free to try those walkies; I threw mine out and have no intentions to buy another :)
